TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod men's golf team finished off the Ichabod Invitational at Topeka Country finishing fourth overall out of 15 teams in its only home meet of the season. Washburn will be back in action wrapping up the fall slate at the Tulsa Cup next week.
The Ichabods, who were ranked No. 43 in the first national rankings announced earlier this week, entered the the final day in third, but shot a team final round score of 289 to for a 54-hole total of 867 finishing +15 over for the tournament.
Blake Saffell and
Quinn Earwood led the Ichabod team tying for 11th overall. Saffell was 1-under in his final round and Earwood was 3-over as both finished with a three-round total of 216.
Hayden Beck climbed 10 spots up the leaderboard in the final 18 holes with a 1-under 70 to finish with a total score of 217 placing in a tie for 18th.
Zach Vandervoort finished in a tie for 37th overall with a final round of 76 for a total score of 222.
Marco Anderson finished with a tie for 45th with a final round of 75 and a final score of 224.
Playing as an individual,
Zachary Haydamack finished in a tie for sixth with an even-par 213 after shooting a 1-over 72 in his final round.
James Hill moved 30 spots up the leaderboard in his final round playing as an individual firing a 3-under 68 to finish in a tie for 34th overall with a three-round score of 221.
Lane Workman finished in a tie for 61st overall wrapping up the final round with a 9-over 80 for a total score of 228.
Michael Matteucci placed in a tie for 65th with a three-round total of 229 after a final round score of 80.
Missouri Western won the tournament with a team score of 1-over 853, two shots ahead of Central Oklahoma. UCO was followed by Concordia St. Paul at 10-over 862 and the Ichabods' final team total of 867.
Aiden Asby of Missouri Western won the individual title with a score of 6-under, 207 after back-to-back final rounds of 68. Thomas Gutzmer from Concordia St. Paul was two shots back at 209 and Jeffery Johnson from Missouri Western was third at 2-under for the tournament.
