MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. – The Washburn Ichabod men's golf team finished off the Missouri Southern Fall Invitational tying for third after firing a 6-under team score of 282 in the final round paced by
Blake Saffell's 7-under score of 65. The Ichabods will be back in action on Oct. 7 at the Missouri Western Fall Regional Preview.
Saffell's top five finish led the Ichabod effort with the low team score of the tournament with the 6-under score. Saffell's final round started on the fourth hole with a birdie and then added birdies on seven and nine. He then added a birdie 16 and then an eagle on 18. He then closed his round with birdies at holes 1, 2 and 3. His round of 65 was first 65 by an Ichabod golfer since Andrew Beckler recorded a 65 on March 4, 2021, in a dual vs Missouri Western. With his opening round of 78, Saffell moved up 54 spots in the final round.
Hayden Beck finished one shot behind Saffell for the 36-hole event with a a two-day total of even par 144. Beck's final round was a 2-under 70 with four birdies on the day to record a top 10 finish.
Quinn Earwood wrapped up the event with a 3-over 75 for a two-day total of 148 to finish in a tie for 34
th overall.
Marco Anderson finished in a tie for 40
th overall after a 4-over 76 in his second round coupled with his opening round of 73 for a 5-over 149.
Zach Vandervoort moved 12 spots up the leaderboard on the final day shooting an even par 72 for finish in a tie for 58
th overall after an opening round of 80.
Playing as an individual,
Lane Workman finished in a tie for 16
th overall with a two-day score of 145 after a final round 74.
