MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod men's track and field team is in second place in the MIAA standings after two days of the MIAA Indoor Championships in Maryville, Mo. on the campus of Northwest Missouri. The Ichabods trail Pittsburg State 61 to 47.5 points entering Sunday's final day of action.
The Ichabods picked up all 47.5 points on day two of the championships highlighted by a 1-2-3 sweep in the high jump.
Jordan Dale was the MIAA Champion with a school record jump of 2.16m (7-01.00) with the seventh-best jump in the NCAA D2 ranks this season earning all-MIAA honors.
Matthew Heckman was second with a height of 2.07m (6-09.50) for eight points all-MIAA honors and
Alessandro Di Gregorio was third at 2.04m (6-08.25) earning all-MIAA honors.
On day two of the heptathlon,
Drew McGilton picked up all-MIAA honors with a point total of 5,174 points with an NCAA provisional mark en route six team points. On the final day of the multi-event, he won the 60m hurdles then placed fourth in the pole vault and finished off the day with a sixth-place finish in the 1000m.
Chaney Martin finished seventh in the event earning four points with a total of 4,889 event points.
Tre Richardson recorded five team points with a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 7.32m (24-00.25). Richardson also recorded the fourth-fastest time in the NCAA D2 this season with a school record time in the 60m at 6.65 advancing to Sunday's finals breaking his previous school record time of 6.73. He will be joined in the finals by
Ezekiel Seamster who qualified seventh in a time of 6.68. Seamster also qualified for the finals in the 200m finishing fourth in a time of 21.26.
Donald Kibet finished fourth in the 5000m run in a time of 14:27.98 earning five points with an NCAA provisional time.
The men's distance medley team of
Sam Nesbitt,
Tucker Groh,
Grady Buessing and
Ross O'Brien crushed the school record of 10:13.39 with a time of 9:57.16 earning four team points for the Ichabods.
