SPRING HILL, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod women's golf team earned its highest finish of the season at the Konzem-Capra Invitational on Friday, posting a two-day team score of 639 to finish in 2
nd place.
Keira Ronsick captured the first individual title in the young program's history, finishing with a 10-over 154 for the tournament after a second-round 79. Ronsick led all players with 25 pars made across the two rounds on her way to victory.
Allie Sullivan also earned a top-5 finish, coming in a tie for 5th at 159 after posting a 4-over 76, the lowest round by any player on Friday. Sullivan birdied the 11
th and 15
th holes, both par-5s, on her way to her highest finish as an Ichabod.
Susana Granados Carrion finished tied for 7
th with a two-day score of 161. Granados Carrion posted a second-round 80, ranking third out of all players in par-4 scoring average for the tournament.
Angelina Borg-Malec finished in a tie for 13
th with a score of 165 after a final-day 82. Borg-Malec led the field with six total birdies made, sharing the honor with Natalie Schmidtberger of William Jewell.
Aliyah North placed in a tie for 25
th, posting an 85 for a total score of 173. The top-25 finish is the highest of North's Washburn career.
Playing as an individual,
Lois Deeter fired a 5-over 77 to finish in 4
th place with a total score of 157. Deeter made three birdies on her way to her lowest round of the season.
Raegan Petersen, also playing as an individual, finished in 24
th place with a total of 171. Petersen found her first birdie of the tournament at the par-4 5
th hole.
Washburn finished one stroke shy of claiming its first team title in program history, with host Rockhurst tallying a team score of 638. The Ichabods held a 14-stroke advantage over 3rd-place Quincy, who dropped two spots after holding the lead after the first round.
The Ichabods will return to action at the NSIC Preview in Smithville, Mo. from Mar. 31-Apr. 1.
