TOPEKA, Kan. -- No. 13 Washburn women's tennis wraps up the regular season with two straight matches at home first against Northeastern State at 1 p.m. on Friday before taking on Arkansas-Fort Smith at 1 p.m. on Saturday for senior day.

- No. 13 Washburn women's tennis finishes out the regular season schedule with home matches against Northeastern State and Arkansas-Fort Smith.
- The Ichabods will face the RiverHawks at 1 p.m. on Friday before taking on the Lions at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 for senior day.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
- Before Saturday's match Washburn will recognize its three seniors, Isabella Martensson, Issabella Pensavalle and Leo Floeth in a presentation beginning at 10:30 a.m.
- The three have combined to spend nine seasons with the Ichabods.
- Isabella Martensson has been in the Washburn program for four seasons with a career record of 75-29 in doubles and 43-40 in singles. She has been an All-MIAA selections in each of her first three seasons.
- Issabella Pensavalle is in her fourth year with the Ichabods where she has compiled a 29-13 record in doubles and 23-21 in singles. She is a one-time All-MIAA selection in singles and doubles.
- Leo Floeth is in her first season with Washburn where she has a 20-9 record in doubles and 14-11 in singles.

TOPEKA, Kan. -- No. 9 Washburn got back in the win column Tuesday afternoon, beginning the final week of the regular season with a 5-2 win over Newman. The Ichabods remain at home hosting Northeastern State at 2 p.m. on Friday.
Doubles competition began with Leo Floeth and Peyton Koper cruising to a 6-2 win on court two, giving Washburn (15-2, 6-1) the advantage. Renske Ubachs and Daniela Tijaro worked their way to a 6-3 victory on the top court, clinching the first point of the match. Isabella Martensson and Saajida Razick played an extra game but were able to complete a sweep of the Jets (6-14, 2-5) in doubles, winning 7-5 at No. 3.
Newman was able to even the match at the start of singles action with Daniela Tijaro falling in two sets, 6-2 and 6-3 at No. 2. Leo Floeth breezed through a 6-1 first set at No. 3 before grinding out a 7-5 win in the second from court three to re-take the lead. After delivering a 6-3 first set win, Renske Ubachs went in a tiebreaker at No. 1 in the second set. She came out on top, 7-1 over No. 70 Dana Issabayeva in the tiebreak to set up match point.
Early in her first set at No. 6, Peyton Koper was forced to retire, adding a point to the Jets tally. Jasel Bailey settled things down, winning 6-3 in her first set before clinching the match with a 6-2 win in the second from No. 5. Saajida Razick went in a third set after winning her first 6-2 and dropping the second 6-3. In the 10-point tiebreaker she finished the match with a 10-2 victory at No. 4.
Head Coach Kirby Ronning
- Ronning is in year five as the head coach of the men's and women's tennis teams at Washburn
- Has led both teams to the NCAA Tournament in every season at the helm with a 166-57 combined record with Washburn.
- Has been named the ITA Central Region Coach of the Year three times. He earned the award on both the men's and women's side in the 2022-23 season and repeated as the men's winner after 2023-24.
- Prior to joining the Ichabods Ronning spent four seasons as the assistant coach at Azusa Pacific from 2016-2022
- As a player, he played for four years at Bethel University (Minn.). Ronning received his bachelor's degree in Business from Bethel in 2014 and earned his master's degree in Physical Education at Azusa Pacific in May 2020.
The Assistants
- Graduate assistants Maja Jung and Santiago Rendon begin their first season on the Ichabod coaching staff while Kurt Reid enters his sixth season with both programs as a volunteer assistant.
- Reid started his collegiate tennis career at Tulsa (1977-78) before transferring to Washburn for the 1978-79 season.
- A Topeka-native, Reid played tennis at Topeka West High School and was elected to the Topeka West Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
- Maja Jung joins the coaching staff after finishing her four-year playing career at Washburn with the second most total victories of any player in women's program history.
- Santiago Rendon also moves from playing to the sidelines after wrapping up three seasons with the Ichabods headlined by an ITA Cup Doubles National Championship in fall of 2023.
- Former Ichabod All-American Logan Morrissey joins the staff during the spring season as a volunteer assistant on the women's side.
- After finishing her career she spent the 2021-22 season as a graduate assistant with the team.

- He graduated in 2009 from Monmouth University, where he played tennis for four years and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Information Technology.
