Anderson wins NCAA Central/Midwest Regional individual championship

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Marco Anderson won a two-man playoff on the 18th hole to  become the first Washburn Ichabod golfer to win an NCAA Regional since Ryan Deutsch in 2007 and will now advance to the NCAA National Championships as an individual for the NCAA National Championships, held at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach, Fla. from May 20-23. The Ichabods finished 12th as a team moving up one spot in their final round finishing with a 54-hole total of 881.

Anderson, who shot an 8-under 63 in his second round (which tied the course record) closed with a 2-under 69 holding off Central Oklahoma's Nicholas Canales who shot a 5-under 66 in his final round as both golfers finished with a three-day total of 207 sending the pair to a playoff starting on the 18th hole. Anderson picked up a par to top Canales and pick up the regional individual championship.

Anderson recorded five birdies in his third round after rounds of 63 and his opening round score of 75 en route to the regional title.

Quinn Earwood moved up 16 spots in his final round with a 2-under 69 to close with a tournament total of 13-over after his three rounds of 80, 77 and 69 for a total score of 226.

Blake Saffell also tied for 79th with a matching score of 226 after his scores of 78, 73 and 75.

Zachary Haydamack matched both Saffell's and Earwood's score with a 13-over 226 wrapping up the season with a 5-over 76. In his first two rounds he had scorecards of 80 and 70.

Hayden Beck finished in 93rd after closing with a 4-over 75 on the heels of his opening two rounds of 79 and 75 for a total score of 229.

Central Oklahoma won the team title by 15 shots over Missouri-St. Louis after a team total of 847. UMSL finished with a score of 862 and Missouri S&T was third with a score of 866. Central Missouri was fourth (867) and Harding and Findlay tied for fifth at 869.
