MANHATTAN, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod men's track and field team continued its season at the Kansas State Ward Haylett Invitational on Friday in Manhattan, Kansas. The Ichabods will have a few athletes competing in one last chance qualifier when they take a trip to Kearney, Neb. for the Loper Last Chance Invitational.
Tucker Groh led the way in the sprints, clocking a new school record of 48.55 in the 400 meters to place seventh overall. In the 100 meters,
Eddie Craig sprinted to a fourth-place finish with a time of 10.65.
Shane Mullen had the top Ichabod finish in the 1500 meters, placing fourth in 3:56.79.
Trent Zimbelman followed in seventh at 4:04.54. The 800-meter crew was led by
Ross O'Brien (13th, 1:57.61), with Horselenberg (16th),
Logan Montgomery (17th), and
Ryan Rochford (18th) rounding out the field.
Washburn found success in the 400-meter hurdles, with
Sam Baxter claiming second place in 52.75—an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark—and
Jake Muller taking fourth in 53.95.
In distance action,
Alex Adams earned a top-five finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase, running 9:50.99 to place fifth.
In the high jump,
Matthew Heckman and
Aaron Newcomer both cleared 2.04 meters (6-08.25) to finish thrid and sixth, respectively. In the pole vault,
Adam Wooldridge and
Logan Schwab tied for seventh at 4.77 meters (15-07.75), while
Matteo Madrassi recorded no height.
Caden Rhamy placed second in the shot put with a toss of 15.95 meters (52-04.00). In the discus,
Jaden Magana took runner-up honors at 47.69 meters (156-06) and also placed third in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.57 meters (182-04).
Zuri Glenn finished fifth in the long jump (6.88 meters / 22-07.00), while
Ian Suther launched the javelin 55.88 meters (183-04) to claim fourth.
