PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Washburn women's track and field team delivered its second-consecutive third-place finish at the 2026 MIAA Indoor Championships recording 90 points overall.

Lexie Fontaine highlighted the final day with a dominant showing in the distance events. The senior captured the MIAA title in the mile, running an NCAA provisional time of 4:46.65, setting an MIAA Championship meet record and a Washburn record in the process. She doubled back for an impressive second-place finish in the 800m (2:10.02), scoring 18 points on her own.

Washburn was equally strong in the field events as  Reagan Housley delivered a sixth-place finish in the pole vault at 3.88m. In the throws, Adriel Holloway finished and 6th in the shot put (13.70m).

The Ichabods also showed their depth in the sprints. Ta'Mijha Nichols led the group with a fourth-place finish in the 60m (7.61), backed up by scoring performances from McKenzie Hayse (7th, 7.64) and Isabella Garcia (8th, 7.71). Hayse later added a fifth-place finish in the 200m finals (24.49) while Mellanie Neudinger scored two points with a seventh-place finish in a time of 24.63.

Washburn's relay crews capped the weekend with major points, placing third in the 4x400m relay (3:44.43) as the team of Kennedi Knowles, Isabella Garcia, Naiuri Krein and Kereser Augustin came in just off school-record pace.

The Ichabods now await NCAA qualifier announcements, with multiple athletes sitting inside provisional marks following their championship performances.
