TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods turned in a strong all-around performance with multiple personal bests, an NCAA provisional mark, and a new school record on the final day of the Ichabod Invitational.

In the 60 meters, Tayveon Simms led the way in prelims with the fastest qualifying time of the day at 6.83 to advance to the finals, while Peyton Holmes (7.03), Javier Lopez (7.09), Eddie Craig (7.10), and Emeka Ogbonna (7.41) rounded out the Ichabod competitors. Simms did not start in the final.

The 400 meters produced one of the day's biggest highlights as Bryce Cochran broke the school record, running 47.89 to place second while also hitting an NCAA provisional mark and setting a new personal best. Isaiah Terry finished in 48.88 for 11th, and Tucker Groh clocked a personal-best 49.23 to finish 16th.

Washburn's 800-meter group delivered three personal bests as Trent Zimbelman (1:55.43), Grady Buessing (1:55.43), and Kyle Wagoner (1:58.02) all crossed in season-best fashion. Zimbelman also competed in the mile, taking 14th in 4:21.54, followed by Wagoner in 18th at 4:28.43. Logan Montgomery added a personal-best 4:45.60 for 46th.

In the 3000 meters, Washburn stacked up strong finishes and more PRs. Shane Mullen ran 8:20.69 for sixth place, followed by Alex Adams with a personal-best 8:28.48 in 11th. Taylor Karcz took 14th in 8:32.63, while Lukas Mehl hit another PR at 8:36.58 for 20th. Gunner Wagner (9:13.17) and Devin Trent (9:17.91) closed out the group, with Wagner also earning a personal best.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Drew McGilton advanced to the final after running 8.28 in prelims and went on to finish eighth in the final at 8.29. Samuel Baxter (8.55) and Alex Michiels (8.85) also competed in prelims.

Washburn's pole vaulters turned in an impressive group showing highlighted by NCAA provisional marks for both Logan Schwab and Adam Wooldridge. Schwab cleared 4.93m (16-02.00) to place fifth, and Wooldridge jumped 4.83m (15-10.00) for sixth. Two more Ichabods hit personal bests as Eli Strawn cleared 4.85m (15-00.25) for 13th, and Caden Caplinger cleared 4.58m (15-00.25) for 14th. In the open section, McGilton returned to win the event with a clearance of 4.20m (13-09.25).

In the triple jump, Ransford Nti claimed a podium spot with a leap of 14.79m (48-06.25) to finish third.

The Ichabods wrapped up the day in the weight throw, where Colin Heatherman led the squad with a toss of 13.82m (45-04.25). Josh Grimm recorded a personal best at 12.38m (40-07.50), while Caden Rhamy finished with a no-mark.
