KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The MIAA Conference announced Monday afternoon that three Ichabods & Head Coach
Ronnie McHenry were named on the Postseason awards list.
"The great season also brought a bunch of individual success. I am happy that those ladies are awarded for their great play this year," said Washburn Director of Golf
Ronnie McHenry.
Ichabod Head Coach
Ronnie McHenry was named MIAA Women's Co-Coach of the Year in the second year as a program, he was named Co-Coach of the Year with Rogers State's Lexi Johnson. The Washburn Women's Team won their first-ever home event this season at Firekeeper Golf Course & Resort, and they also had two 2nd-place finishes.
"I'm honored to be Coach of the Year in this conference! This is more of a team award for how they have played this year to allow me to win this award," said MIAA Co-Coach of the Year
Ronnie McHenry. "My assistant coaches, the Washburn athletic department, and everyone who supports our team deserve part of the success because they do whatever they can behind the scenes to make it possible. My wife Natalie allows me to have my dream job and couldn't do it without her support for me and our family. I wouldn't have imagined this 2 years ago when we just started the program, the MIAA knows we have a women's golf program that will compete at a high level from here on out, and this group will always have that to remember!"
Susana Granados Carrion earned All-MIAA First Team honors. The Junior has 6 top-10 finishes this season, with five of them in the top-5. On the season, she has a 88% win percentage.
"Susana Granados being first team all MIAA is big time for our program and does it with consistency every week," said Head Coach
Ronnie McHenry. "She was up for player of the year and will give her something to strive for next year."
Angelina Borg-Malec was selected to the All-MIAA Third Team. The senior from France has five top-10 finishes in her final season in Topeka, and she also has a win percentage of 84%.
"
Angelina Borg-Malec has had as good a spring semester as anyone in the league and it shows with her third team all MIAA," McHenry said. " I know that is special for he with it being her senior year!"
Keira Ronsick was named All-MIAA Honorable Mention after she finished in the top-10 four times, with her best finish of the year being two weeks ago at the Spring Region Preview, where she tied for fourth.
"
Keira Ronsick getting the honorable mention all MIAA is great, she has been solid for us all year, and the recognition is much deserved," said Washburn Head Coach
Ronnie McHenry.
The Ichabod Women's Golf Team is in action today through Wednesday at the MIAA Championships at Mules National Golf Club.
