The Washburn Ichabod track and field teams are back in action this weekend at two different sites heading to the Jo Meaker Classic and Multis in Canyon Texas and the UCM Mule Relays in Warrensburg, Mo.

IN THE RANKINGS
After the first three weeks on outdoor track, the Ichabods have the No. 4-ranked men's high jump squad in the D2 ranks and the No. 10-ranked pole vault unit. On the women's side, the Ichabod long jump squad is ranked fifth overall with the 100m group ranked sixth.

WHO'S GOING
The Ichabod women will have 24 student-athletes competing at the UCM Relays and 22 scheduled for the trip to West Texas A&M. On the men's side, 17 are scheduled for the trip to Texas and 23 will be in Warrensburg.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE ICHABODS
PITTSBURG, Kan. - The Washburn University men's track and field team turned in a strong all-around performance Saturday at the 18th Annual David Suenram Gorilla Classic, highlighted by multiple event wins, NCAA provisional marks, personal records, and a school-record-breaking throw.
Jake Muller paced the Ichabods on the track, winning the 400m hurdles in 53.86, while also anchoring the 4x400m relay to a first-place finish. Muller teamed with
Bryce Cochran,
Tucker Groh, and
Brayden Peek to post a winning time of 3:21.70.
Washburn's sprint group was busy early in the meet, sending three athletes into the 100m finals.
Peyton Holmes led the way, qualifying third in the prelims (10.78) before finishing fourth in the final with a season-best 10.75.
Javier Lopez placed fifth in the final at 10.83, while
John Mark Bishop qualified but did not start the final. Holmes, Bishop, Lopez, and
Aaron Shadid later combined for a third-place finish in the 4x100 relay with a time of 41.96.
In the 400m,
Bryce Cochran placed fourth in 49.37, followed by
Tucker Groh, who ran 51.03 to finish 11th. In the 800m,
Brayden Peek continued his strong early-season form by running a personal-best 1:56.22, good for sixth place, while
Seth Motes clocked 2:07.44.
Ian Suther delivered a standout performance in the javelin, breaking his own school record with a throw of 60.60m (198-10). The mark earned Suther a fourth-place finish, a personal record, and an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Alex Michiels also recorded a PR in the javelin, finishing 14th at 40.75m.
In the pole vault,
Adam Wooldridge cleared 4.88m (16-00.25) to place fourth and earn an NCAA provisional mark.
Caden Caplinger followed closely in fifth at 4.73m, while Mackobe Merwin finished 11th.
The high jump saw Washburn earn a pair of runner-up finishes, as
Aaron Newcomer and
Slade Smith both cleared 1.99m (6-06.25) to tie for second. In the long jump, Washburn recorded three personal bests, led by
Alex Michiels, who placed eighth with a jump of 7.00m (22-11.5).
Peyton Holmes (6.77m) and
Tyler Green (6.49m) also posted PRs.
WOMEN
PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod women's track and field team turned in an excellent performance at the 18th Annual David Suenram Gorilla Classic, highlighted by multiple individual victories, dominant relay results, NCAA provisional marks, and a host of personal bests.
The Ichabods were especially strong in the 100m dash, advancing six athletes to the finals and sweeping the top two positions.
Maya Pattison led the way, qualifying first in the prelims (11.87) before capturing the title in 11.90.
Layla Lerus followed close behind, finishing second in 11.94, while
Ta'Mijha Nichols placed fifth (12.07).
Kamdyn Wedel (7th – 12.12),
Lyric Reid (8th – 12.21), and
Kyra Ray (9th – 12.40) rounded out the Washburn finalists. Ray also recorded a personal best (12.13) during prelims.
Washburn continued its momentum in the 400m, where
Kereser Augustin earned first place in 56.44.
Andria Williams finished fifth in 59.33, while
Natalie Hillebert placed eighth (1:01.00).
In the 200m,
Isabella Garcia paced the Ichabods with an eighth-place finish in 25.34, followed by
Kennedi Knowles (11th – 25.60),
Andria Williams (13th – 25.75), and
Natalie Hillebert (19th – 26.84).
The Ichabods shone in the 4x100m relay, placing first and second with two squads. The "A" relay of
Lyric Reid,
Isabella Garcia,
Maya Pattison, and
Ta'Mijha Nichols earned the win in 46.52, while the "B" group of
Kyra Ray,
Mellanie Neudinger,
Kamdyn Wedel, and
Layla Lerus finished second in 46.90.
In the hurdles,
Naiuri Krein qualified for the 100m hurdles finals with an eighth-place run (14.76) before finishing seventh in the final at 15.10.
Washburn's field athletes also delivered several standout efforts.
Mellanie Neudinger finished third in the long jump, recording a personal-best 5.89m (19-04.00) to earn an NCAA provisional mark.
Kyra Ray posted a PR of 5.63m to finish seventh, while
Kaylee Hagerman and
Theresa Osei both recorded personal bests at 5.30m.
Theresa Osei added a fifth-place finish in the triple jump at 11.47m (37-08.00).
In the high jump,
Shaydin Myers cleared a personal-best 1.56m (5-01.50) to finish sixth, while
Roni Simeon placed eighth at 1.51m.
Jayden Herl added a personal best in the pole vault, finishing 10th after clearing 3.18m (10-5.25).
The throwers added more podium finishes for the Ichabods.
Adriel Holloway placed third in the shot put with a throw of 13.81m (45-3.75) and followed with another third-place finish in the hammer throw, posting an NCAA provisional mark of 53.13m (174-4).
Jadyn Falley finished seventh in the hammer at 47.82m, while Holloway also competed in the discus, finishing 11th.

UP NEXT
Next up for the Ichabods are scheduled to send distance runners to the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif while others are scheduled to be in action at the ESU Relays April 17-18. The MIAA Outdoor Championships are May 1-3 in Pittsburg, Kan.
