Season Statistics
Washburn let a four-run lead slip away in game one but had a big offensive game in the second contest to lead to a doubleheader split against Missouri Southern Friday night at Falley Field. The Lions won game one 6-5 and then the Ichabods won the second game 16-6. Washburn (7-10, 4-6 MIAA) will face the Lions in another doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m.

Washburn scored multiple runs in the second and fifth innings but let a four-run lead slip away in a 6-5 loss to Missouri Southern in the opener.
Cameron Kasel led off the second inning with a single and then
Joe Hosey followed with a double.
Tyler Blankenship's single drove in Kasel and then Luis Beltran Lopez drove in Hosey with a sacrifice bunt. Blankenship later scored in the inning on an error to give WU a 3-0 lead.
The Lions got on the board in the fifth when Kenny Hart doubled and scored but the Ichabods answered with two more runs in the bottom half.
Wes Joy led off with a single and then
Brian Gorges was hit by a pitch. Hosey's single later in the inning scored both of them to put WU up 5-1.
The Lions scored three runs in the top of the sixth off three hits and two errors to get within a run and then they tied the game and took the lead with two runs in the seventh. MSSU got just one hit in the inning off a bunt but walked once and advanced four bases on two different wild pitches.
Danny Cook started for WU and gave up four runs off seven hits with five strikeouts. He shut out the Lions in the first four innings and only allowed two hits.
Andrew Miller pitched the final inning and suffered the loss.
Game 2

The Ichabods fell behind 2-0 in the top half of the second but then scored 16 runs in six innings to force the 10-run rule and defeat Missouri Southern 16-6 in seven innings in the night cap.
Calvin Iversen was 2 for 4 with a career-high four RBI and Kasel drove in three runs off three hits as the Ichabods smashed 16 hits.
Iversen tied the game in the bottom of the second with a two-RBI single and then Joy gave WU the lead for good when he drove in a run on a single.
The Ichabods added three more in the third with
Mark Stoltz contributing a two-run double and then they piled on six more runs in the fourth.
The first four WU batters reached safely in the inning and then Hosey got the first out on a sacrifice fly that drove in a run. Iversen later had a two-run single to finish scoring in the inning.
The Lions scored three more times in the game but Washburn put them away with four runs in the seventh. Joy led off with a walk and then scored with Gorges' triple to right centerfield.
Dan Egan then walked and he and Gorges scored on Kasel's double to center. Hosey's single to right field then scored Kasel from second base to end the ballgame on the 10-run rule.
Brett Sorensen earned the win and improved to 3-1 as he allowed five runs on five hits with two strikeouts and four walks.
J.P. Verhulst pitched the final two innings and allowed a run on two hits while striking out three.

Tyler Blankenship's error in the second game was just Washburn's second fielding error on the new FieldTurf infield system through eight home games.
