Opening Tip• The Washburn Ichabod basketball team will open the home slate on Monday at 7 p.m. in Lee Arena at Schendel Court when they will face Southwestern College.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Washburn Ichabod men's basketball team fell 77-70 to No. 14-ranked Minnesota State on Saturday.
The Ichabods were led by
Stephon Drane who recorded 15 points on 7 of 11 shooting from the field adding five rebounds.
Prince Samuels scored 12 off the bench.
The Ichabods led by as many as 10 points early in the second half with 17:15 remaining after a lay up by
Algie Key, but the Mavericks would go on a 21-7 run hitting 4 of 5 3-pointers during the 6:13 stretch to take a 54-48 lead with 12:32 to play.
Washburn cut the lead to two points twice before pulling out to a six-point lead but the Ichabods would not get closer than five the rest of the way before the Mavericks took the 77-70 win.
Washburn led 37-31 at the break after shooting 12 of 31 from the field while holding the Mavericks to 8 of 22. However in the second half the Mavericks improved to 12 of 23 shooting going 6 of 10 from 3-point range. Washburn finished 42 percent from the field in the game hitting 25 of 59 shots while the Mavericks finished 20 of 45 overall for a 44 percent clip.
Washburn committed 19 turnovers in the game leading to 18 points for the Mavericks. Washburn had 16 offensive rebounds gaining 19 second chance points in the contest. Overall the Ichabods led the Mavericks in rebounding 40 to 23.

Last time out for Southwestern CollegeLAWRENCE, Kan. – For the second time in three games, Cameron Clark hit the game-winning jumper in the final seconds Thursday evening. Clark's 8-footer sent the Southwestern College men's basketball team to an 81-80 win over Haskell Indian Nations University inside the Coffin Sports Complex in Lawrence, Kan.
After leading by as many as nine in the first half, the Moundbuilders found themselves facing a two point halftime deficit. Haskell extended its lead to as many as 10 in the second half, but Southwestern caught fire from three-point range, and rallied late for the one-point win.
-Haskell (0-4) scored the first six points of the game, and held a 6-0 lead after a Randy July free throw just over a minute into the game. The Indians maintained a lead of at least three until the 16:01 mark, when Chris Waller's old-fashioned three-point play pulled Southwestern (7-0) to within one, 12-11.
-A Bryan Lipsey triple gave the Moundbuilders their first lead of the game, a 17-15 advantage with 14:20 to play that came in the middle of a 10-0 Southwestern run. The run gave the Moundbuilders a 21-15 advantage after a William Tisdale jumper with 10:48 to play.
-Southwestern pushed its lead to nine (32-23) on a Cameron Clark lay-in at the 6:19 mark. Landers Riddle answered a Haskell triple with a trey of his own to push the lead back to nine (35-26) with 4:25 to play. But the Indians finished the half on a 12-1 run, and took a 38-36 halftime lead.
-Haskell controlled the first five minutes of the second half, and took a 10-point (50-40) lead at the 14:49 mark.
-Southwestern began to chip away at the Haskell lead, and had clawed back to within six (66-60) with 4:44 remaining when Drew Hudson took over. The junior drained three triples over the next two minutes, and helped give the Moundbuilders a 73-72 edge at the 2:36 mark. The Indians countered with a triple of their own, and held the lead all the way to the 0:50 mark, when William Tisdale's jumper forced a 77-77 tie. Chris Waller added a jumper with 33 seconds left to give Southwestern a 79-77 edge, but red-hot Haskell countered with yet another triple to take an 80-79 lead with 0:13 to play.
-When it came to crunch time, head coach Matt O'Brien put the ball in the hands of his two-time Honorable Mention All-America selection, and Cameron Clark knocked down an 8-foot jumper from the base line to give Southwestern an 81-80 lead with 0:04 to play. Haskell failed to get a shot off out of a timeout, and the Moundbuilders escaped with an 81-80 win.
