Opening Tip•    The Washburn Ichabod men's basketball team will have a short turnaround as they will host Lincoln on Monday night at 7 p.m. on Schendel Court in Lee Arena, two days after a 68-66 overtime win over Lindenwood on Saturday at home.

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod men's basketball team scored the final seven points of the game capped by a buzzer-beating floater in the lane by
Cameron Wiggins as the Ichabods defeated Lindenwood 68-66 in overtime in Lee Arena on Saturday night.
To open the extra frame, Lindenwood (8-4, 4-2 MIAA) scored the five seven points taking a 66-61 with 3:59 to play, however it would be the last points of the night for the Lions as the Ichabods (8-3, 4-2 MIAA) scored the final seven leading to the two-point win.
Brady Skeens, who pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds pulled the Ichabods within three at 66-63 with 3:20 to play.Â
Neither team scored again until
Randall Smith recorded a traditional 3-point play with 1:31 to go to tie the score. On the Lions' next possession, they missed a 3-pointer and the Ichabods picked up an offensive rebound by Jeremy Licktieg off an Ichabod miss with 33 seconds to play. After a jump ball with 2.6 seconds left, Washburn's Wiggins slashed into the lane scoring the winning bucket as time expired.
The Ichabods led 32-28 at the break before the Lions ripped off a 21-5 run over the final two minutes of the opening half and the first nine of the second half taking a 43-37 lead with 11:51 to play in regulation. The Ichabods chipped away eventually taking a 55-52 lead on a 3-pointer by
Javion Blake, but the Lions tied it with 59 with 43 seconds to play.
Smith led the Ichabods with 15 points adding four assists.
Robert Christopher scored 12 points in his first start and Skeens finished with eight points, 14 rebounds and four blocks.
Jeremy Lickteig had a career-high 10 rebounds adding eight points while Blake scored 13 points and Wiggins had nine points and five assists in the win.Â
Cory Arentsen led the Lions with 23 points.
Washburn finished the game 24 of 63 from the field for a 38 percent average while the Lions were 24 of 67 for a 36 percent clip. Washburn was also 18 of 26 from the free throw line and outrebounded the Lions 50 to 37 turning 15 offensive rebounds into 12 second chance points.
Washburn will have a quick turnaround as the will face Lincoln, who defeated Emporia State 71-65 on Saturday improving to 9-3 and 5-1 in the MIAA. Â

Kyle Wiggins scored a career-high 31 points with 18 coming in the second half hitting 12 of 20 shots overall including 4 of 8 from 3-point range leading Washburn to its second-straight win.Â
The Ichabods (6-7, 2-1 MIAA) only trailed at 6-4 with 15:56 to play as both teams jumped out to a slow start before the Ichabods would take a 34-17 lead into the break after outscoring the Blue Tigers (4-8, 1-2 MIAA) 30-13 over the remaining time in the half.Â
The Blue Tigers would not get any closer than 11 in the second half at 64-53.Â
The win was the 11th in a row over the Blue Tigers in Jefferson City as well and improved Ichabod head coach
Bob Chipman to 25-0 all-time against the Blue Tigers.Â
Washburn finished shooting 49 percent from the field hitting 29 of 59 shots overall and went 8 of 10 from the free throw line all coming in the second half while forcing 14 Blue Tiger turnovers leading to 19 points for the Ichabods.Â

 Last time out for LincolnEMPORIA, Kan. - Anthony Virdure scored 26 points and Richie Lewis had a double-double to lead the Lincoln men's basketball team to a 71-65 win over Emporia State on Saturday (Jan. 2). The Blue Tigers improved to 9-3 overall and 5-1 in the MIAA in the win, Lincoln's fifth in a row and first in a true road game.
Jaylon Smith made a pair of threes to help Lincoln take an early 12-3 lead, and a pair of Virdure free throws put Lincoln ahead by 11 with 14:18 left in the half. Emporia State (6-6, 3-3 MIAA) stormed back to cut the LU advantage to 23-19 at the 11:18 mark, but the Blue Tigers scored on three-straight possession to go back up by 10 by the second media timeout.
Emporia State shot .520 overall and .600 from long range in the first half, and as a result was able to close the gap down to 39-36 after hitting a buzzer-beating jumper just before halftime. The Hornets then began the second half on a 13-1 run, and led by six with 11:42 remaining.
An old-fashioned three-point play by Aaron Spudich began Lincoln's comeback, and Virdure sank a three to pull LU to within 53-51 with 10 minutes to play. The Blue Tigers then tied the game on a pair of free throws from Lewis before two shots at the line by Virdure and a layup from Tacourrus Mattox gave Lincoln a 57-53 advantage.
Lincoln would not trail again from that point forward, with a trey by Smith giving LU a 65-59 lead with 3:31 remaining. Emporia State scored five unanswered to close the gap down to one, but a jumper by Virdure and two more free throws by Lewis gave Lincoln a two-score advantage in the game's final minute. The Blue Tiger defense proved too tough to score on late, as ESU scored just one point in the contest's final two minutes.
Lewis and Smith each scored 12 points, with Lewis also grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing four assists. Mattox and Smith each tallied six boards, with Mattox additionally scoring six points, dishing a pair of assists and registering three steals. In addition to his game-high point total, Virdure also pulled down five rebounds and dropped two dimes.
O'Shai Clark added six points, a block, two assists and two steals to the LU cause while Spudich finished with five points and a pair of rebounds. Rod Ollison rounded out the scoring with four points and grabbed five rebounds.
As a team, Lincoln shot .479 from the floor and out-rebounded the Hornets, 37-31. LU defensively held ESU to .324 shooting in the second half, with Emporia State hitting just two of its 12 attempts from three-point land. With the win, LU now has nine victories in a season for the first time since 2001-02, which is also the last time the Blue Tigers had a five-game winning streak.Â
