TOPEKA, Kan. – In its first home game of the season the Washburn men's junior varsity squad's attempted comeback was cut shot in the final seconds of a 93-88 loss to the Ottawa men's gold junior varsity team.
The Ichabods came out strong but trailed early eventually heading into the trailing the Braves 49-41. The Ichabods used some sharp shooting to climb out of a hole and trailed by three points in the final two minutes of regulation, but Ottawa eventually pulled away and handed Washburn its second loss of the season.
The Ichabods were led in scoring by
Darren Spruill with 23 points included a perfect 5 of 5 from the charity stripe.
Paul Muzzy contributed 21 points of his own including five three-point field goals.
Up next, the Ichabods will head to Salina, Kan. To face Brown Mackie College on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.
