KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Washburn men's basketball junior varsity team used a stellar second half defensive effort to edge Kansas City Kansas Community College 67-64 snapping a three-game losing streak.
 
Washburn would take a three-point deficit into the locker room at the break after allowing the Blue Devils to shoot 44.8 percent from the field including 9 of 14 from long range. The Ichabods would turn it around in the second half, holding KCKCC to 28.1 percent shooting in the second period.
 
Darren Spruill led Washburn by posting a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. The Ichabods outrebounded KCKCC 45 to 36 in its fourth win of the season.
 
Washburn will return to action on Jan. 25 when it host Fort Scott Community College with tip-off slated for 6 p.m.
