EDMOND, Okla. -- After ending day one alone in fifth place Washburn golf improved on the second and final day of the Broncho Invitational, finishing tied for fourth among the 16 teams. The Ichabods will finish the regular season at The Mule beginning April 3.
Washburn shot a 303 on the final day to move up one spot into a tie with Harding University, both finishing at +49 for the tournament. The Ichabods finished third best among the nine MIAA teams competing. Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State were the only two conference opponents to finish higher than Washburn, as they ended 1-2 respectively. The Bronchos won the tournament by two strokes, going +30 for the tournament and carding 300 as a team in the final round.
Jack Baker ended day one alone in third place and slid down the leaderboards ever so slightly on day two, finishing tied for sixth place shooting seven over par for the tournament. It was his second top-10 finish of the season and his highest individual placement after carding a 77 in the third round.
Cade Uhlenhake pushed his way into the top-10, finishing tied for ninth place with a 74 on the final round to end the tournament at +7. It's the sixth top-10 finish for Uhlenhake this season. Kade Prentice stayed in the middle of Washburn's scorecard with a 79 on the final round to finish tied for 25th at +15.
Dawson Wills shot 20 spots up the leaderboards on the final day with a team-best 73 on the third round to finish tied for 45th overall. Daniel Duffin rounded out team scoring with an overall score of 248, finishing in 81st place.
Max Ullan competed as an individual and finished tied for 53rd place with an 83 in the final round and a 248 across all 54 holes.
Washburn finished as the fifth best team in the tournament on par 5s, with an average score of 4.9 strokes on those holes. The Ichabods also collected 36 birdies as a team, tied for the fourth most in the field of teams.
