WHO'S INVITED
Washburn will compete with 10 conference rivals for the right to be crowned MIAA champion. The Ichabods faced off against six of these teams last time out at the Firekeeper Open.

COURSE INFO
Jefferson City Country Club is a par-72 course with six tee options ranging from 5,207 to 7,117 yards. The course, located on the western side of Jefferson City, is about a 10 minute drive from the Missouri State Capitol building.

Blake Saffell took home the first individual title of the Washburn Ichabod men's golf season with a victory at the Firekeeper Open as the Ichabods finished in 5th place at their second home tournament of the season. The Ichabods will begin postseason play with the MIAA Championship Tournament from Apr. 21-23 at Jefferson City Country Club in Jefferson City, Mo.

Battling fierce winds, Saffell fired a 1-under 71 in the third round to finish at 9-under for the tournament, taking a two-shot victory over Josh Esterley of Concordia-St. Paul. Leading by just one stroke with one hole to play, Saffell knocked in his birdie putt at the 18th hole to secure the win.

Quinn Earwood finished the day with a round of 77, securing a top-15 finish with a tie for 13th place. Earwood made three birdies on the day, all coming on the front nine.

Marco Anderson posted a 3-over 75 to finish in a tie for 56th place. Anderson began the day with three straight bogeys before battling back and playing even-par golf the remainder of the round. The junior finished the tournament with a birdie on the par-4, 395-yard 18th hole.

Hayden Beck finished in a tie for 74th place after third-round 76. Beck found a birdie at the par-4, 440-yard 15th hole.

James Hill concluded the tournament in a tie for 92nd place. Hill joined Beck in making birdie at the 15th hole.

Zachary Haydamack paced the Ichabod individuals for the tournament, finishing with a third-round 76 to end in a tie for 47th place. Haydamack recorded only one bogey through his first 15 holes in the third round.

Michael Matteucci posted a 2-over 74 to finish in a tie for 69th place. Matteucci recorded an eagle on the par-5, 525-yard 4th hole, becoming one of only 16 players in the field to make an eagle on any hole across the three rounds.

Zach Vandervoort finished in a tie for 74th place after posting his best round of the tournament, a 3-over 75. Vandervoort made birdies on the 4th and 11th holes, both par-5s.

Lane Workman finished in a tie for 102nd place after a round of 81. Workman began each round on the 15th hole, playing the hole at 1-under for the week.

Oklahoma Christian claimed the team championship, earning a 10-stroke victory over in-state rival Central Oklahoma. The Eagles posted an 8-under 280 as a team in the final round.

COACHING
Former Ichabod golfer
Ronnie McHenry is in his fourth season as the men's head coach in 2024-25 after spending two seasons as the team's volunteer assistant taking over the Washburn program in 2021. Prior to the start of the 2024-25 season, with the addition of the Ichabod women's golf program, he added the title of Director of Golf.
Entering his fourth full season, he has led the Ichabod men's squad to two NCAA Super Regional appearances and an NCAA National Championship appearances finishing 18th in 2023 and 12th in 2021.
