Ichabods set for final tune-up prior to MIAA Championships this weekend at Rock Chalk Park

TO YOUR MARKS
The No. 13-ranked Washburn Ichabod men's track and field team and the No. 19-ranked women's track and field team will return to Lawrence for the second week in a row at the Rock Chalk Classic. The Ichabods will also have two women's entries at the 2025 Kip Janvrin Open hosted by Simpson College.

NATIONAL POLLS
The Washburn Ichabod women's track and field team was ranked No. 19th in the nation in the fourth checkpoint of the season. The Ichabods started the season ranked No. 6.
The Washburn Ichabod men's track and field team is 13th, just behind its season-opening and highest ranking in program history at No. 12.
 
EVENT SQUADS
In the event squad rankings, the Ichabod men's high jump squad is ranked No. 1 in the nation for the third week in a row, No. 4 in the pole vault and No. 6 in the 100m. On the women's side, Washburn is ranked fifth in the 100m, ninth in the hammer and 18th in the 200m.
 
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE ICHABODS
Women - April 19, 2025 - TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod women's track and field team completed the weekend of action at the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, California and at Rock Chalk Park at the Kansas Relays picking up three NCAA provisional marks.
At the Beach Invitational in the invite pole vault event, Isabel Demarco de Quardros finished up her third-place finish (and highest NCAA Division II competitor) after clearing 4.09m (13-05.00) with a second-place finish going over 4.20m (13-09.25) again as the highest NCAA Division II finisher. Reagan Housley finished 23rd clearing 3.65m (11-11.75).
At Rock Chalk Park on the final day of the Kansas Relays in the finals of the 400m, Kereser Augustin finished second in the 400m in a time of 55.69. Isabella Kupka was third in a time of 55.94.
The 4x400m relay team of Kaylee James, Isabella Kupka, Naiuri Krein, Kereser Augustin finished third in the event in a time of 3:47.80 for an NCAA provisional mark.
Alyssa Hutcherson was eighth in the long jump with a mark of 5.48m (17-11.75) and McKenzie Hayse was ninth at 5.46m (17-11.00).
Ilaria Villa finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 51.63m (169-04) for an NCAA provisional mark. Adriel Holloway was 12th with a mark of 40.20m (131-11) and Tyler Smith was 13th at 40.12m (131-07).
Men - TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod men's track and field team wrapped up a busy week at the Kansas Relays and the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Calif.
At the Beach Invitational in the invite pole vault event, Matteo Madrassi finished fifth with a mark of 5.19m (17-00.25) breaking his own school record of 5.08m (16-08.00). He was the highest NCAA Division II finisher. His mark was the fifth-best in the NCAA D2 ranks this season. He finished seventh earlier in the week at the Pacific Coast Invitational and was the top-finishing NCAA Division II competitor taking seventh in the pole vault with an NCAA provisional mark of 4.98m (16-04.00).
Ross O'Brien was fourth in the 1500m Invite in a time of 3:54.46 as the top D2 finisher.
At Rock Chalk Park on the final day of the Kansas Relays, Matthew Heckman was second in the high jump with a height of 2.06m (6-09.00) and Jordan Dale was fourth at the same height. Aaron Newcomer was eighth at a mark of 2.01m (6-07.00).
In the 400m hurdles, Sam Baxter finished fifth in a time of 53.85 and Jake Muller was seventh in a time of 55.00.
Zuri Glenn was eighth in the long jump with a mark of 6.95 (22-09.75) on his first jump and Drew McGilton was 13th at 6.60m (21-08.00).
Ian Suther placed 10th in the javelin with a throw of 55.14m (180-11).
 
UP NEXT
The Ichabods are scheduled to open the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 2-4 in Emporia, Kan.
