TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn women's track and field team was in action at two different sites on Thursday, producing a strong collection of performances at the Jo Meaker Classic & Multi and the UCM Mule Relays, highlighted by multiple personal records, event victories, and NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
Jo Meaker Classic & Multi
Washburn sprinters delivered an impressive showing in the 200 meters, led by
Mellanie Neudinger, who finished 12th with a personal-best time of 24.36.
Layla Lerus followed closely in 18th at 24.60, while
Isabella Garcia placed 19th with a time of 24.61. Additional personal bests were recorded by
Lyric Reid (22nd, 24.64),
Kereser Augustin (34th, 24.94),
Kamdyn Wedel (35th, 24.95), and
Ashtyn Collins (63rd, 26.41).
Kennedi Knowles added a 46th-place finish in 25.42.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Washburn placed two athletes in the top 20, as
Kynleigh Chard finished 19th with a time of 15.90, while Addison Webster was right behind in 20th at 15.91.
The highlight of the meet came in the heptathlon, where
Naiuri Krein stood atop the leaderboard after four events with 3,183 points. Krein opened the competition with a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (14.73), tied for third in the high jump (1.60m), won the shot put with a mark of 13.01 meters, and followed with a second-place performance in the 200 meters (25.50).
UCM Mule Relays
Washburn also turned in several standout performances at the UCM Mule Relays, beginning with the middle-distance events. In the 800-meter invite,
Jordyn Cleary recorded a personal best of 2:21.37 to finish seventh, while
Grace Hovey placed 15th with a time of 2:30.51.
The 1500-meter open featured a trio of personal records for the Ichabods.
Riley Britton led the group with a fifth-place finish and a PR time of 4:53.21, followed by
Kenzie Ross, who finished ninth at 4:56.16.
Mya Kafka also ran a personal best, clocking 5:11.36, while
Ayva Darmento rounded out the field in 5:50.52.
In the 1500-meter invite,
Kyla Lochtefeld placed third with a personal-best time of 4:39.59.
Jolie Evans followed with a PR of 4:47.53 for ninth place, while
Grace Collins finished 19th with a time of 4:53.82.
The field events provided two of the top highlights for Washburn.
Reagan Housley captured first place in the pole vault, clearing 3.80 meters (12-5.5) to earn an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. In the hammer throw,
Adriel Holloway placed second with a mark of 54.87 meters (180-0), also meeting the NCAA provisional standard.
Jadyn Falley added a seventh-place finish and a personal record, throwing 51.54 meters (169-1).
