Opening Tip•    The Washburn Ichabod men's basketball team will step out of MIAA play for the second-straight game as they will face Tabor on Monday night in Lee Arena at 7:30 p.m.
•   Washburn is 4-7 and 1-1 in the MIAA after  falling at Rockhurst on Dec. 13 48-47 in Kansas City.
•   Tabor is 5-8 and has won its last three games prior to losing the four before the start of the winning streak. Monday's game is an exhibition game for the Bluejays.
•   The Bluejays lost at Central Missouri 77-62 on Nov. 30 in Warrensburg.
•   The Ichabods have 30 regular season games scheduled this season and also had three exhibition games against NCAA Division I members Kansas, Kansas State and Oklahoma to have 33 games before the MIAA Tournament starts.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabods dropped a 48-47 decision at Rockhurst on Saturday to the Hawks.Â
With the Ichabods and the Hawks tied at 44, Washburn (4-7) came up short on three possessions and a jumper by the Hawks Russell Burns gave Rockhurst (4-4) a 46-44 lead with 29 seconds to play. Washburn missed on its next possession and the Hawks' Josh Roberts hit a pair of free throws putting Rockhurst up 48-44.
Kyle Wiggins hit a 3-pointer with three seconds to play cutting the lead to one but the Hawks finished out the clock taking the one point win.
The Hawks led by as many as 10 in the first half before the  Ichabods finished the stanza on an 8-1 run holding Rockhurst without a field goal for the final 7:06 of the half. All of the points by the Ichabods in the first half came from three players as

Kyle Wiggins each had nine and
Turon Parker recorded seven.Â
North led the Ichabods with a game-high 17 points adding eight rebounds.
Kyle Wiggins had 12 points and Parker finished with 11. Rockhurst had no players reach double figures as three different players had eight.
The Ichabods finished 19 of 53 from the field hitting 4 of 14 3-point attempts while the Hawks started the game 4 of 7 from 3-point range but finished 7 of 23 overall from deep.  Last meeting with Tabor(Nov. 26, 2013) TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods hit reached the century mark for the second time in the last four games as they wrapped the exhibition slate with a perfect 7-0 record after topping Tabor 102-80.Â
The Ichabods jumped out to a lead as many as 24 points in the first half at 55-31 with 36 seconds to play in the frame as they took a 55-34 lead into the break. Tabor led by one at 9-8 before the Ichabods used a 15-2 run over the next 5:44 to push out to a 23-11 lead. Washburn was aided by hitting 5 of 10 3-pointers in the first half as well.
In the second half the Bluejays trailed by as many as 34 with 5:32 to play in the game and they did not get within 26 points in the second half as the Ichabods cruised to the win.
Alex North led five Ichabods in double figures with 21 points on 9 of 10 shooting from the field. He also added seven rebounds and six assists.
Jeff Reid scored 20 points on 8 of 11 shooting while hitting 4 of 5 3-point attempts recording a game-high nine rebounds.
Stephon Drane scored 12 while
Kyle Wiggins chipped in 11 with six assists and
Leon Flowers scored 10.
D.J. Biggs scored 23 to lead the Bluejays.
Washburn recorded a season-high 39 field goals finishing the game with a 53 percent shooting clip hitting 39 of 74 shots. The Ichabods were 22 of 39 in the first half for a 56 percent average. Washburn held the Bluejays to a 40 percent average on the night going 28 of 70. Washburn added a season-high 24 assists as well and they forced 15 turnovers leading to 20 Ichabod points. The Ichabods also outscored the Bluejays in the paint 56 to 38 and held a slight 43 to 39 advantage on the glass.
The win was also a milestone for the Ichabod coaching staff as
Bob Chipman and assistant coach
Dave Brown reached 1,000 total wins. Chipman has now won 747 games and Brown was the head coach at Seward County Community College where he is the all-time winningest coach and had 253 career wins.
