Opening Tip•    The Washburn Ichabod men's basketball team continues its three-game homestand with Northwest Missouri on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Lee Arena in the only regular season meeting between the schools this season.
•   The Ichabods (10-5, 6-4 MIAA) snapped a two-game losing streak after topping Missouri Western on Jan. 13 78-67.
•   Northwest Missouri (10-5, 7-3 MIAA) lost on the road at Emporia State 70-63 ending a four-game Bearcat winning streak.

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods had five players in double figures as the Ichabods never trailed as they defeated Missouri Western 78-67 on Wednesday in Lee Arena.Â
Washburn led for 39:23 of 40 minutes in the game as
Javion Blake hit a 3-pointer to open the scoring en route to a game-high 16 points as the Ichabods (10-5, 6-4 MIAA) scored the first six points of the game. Washburn stretched its lead to as many as 14 in the first half at 28-14 after a pair of Blake free throws and the Griffons would get no closer than eight the rest of the opening half.
In the second half after the Griffons (5-11, 3-7 MIAA) cut the lead to 10 with 16;19 to play in the game, Washburn scored eight straight points building the lead back to 18 at 54-35 with 13:18 to play in the game and Missouri Western would not get within 10 points the rest of the night after leading by as many as 19 in the second half.
Following Blake's 16 points,
Cameron Wiggins scored 13 points and
Robert Christopher scored 12 off the bench.
Brady Skeens recorded his fourth double double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds adding three blocks, three assists and two steals.
Andy Wilson scored 10 points off the bench.
Currie Byrd led the Griffons with 14 points scoring 13 in the first half.

 Last meeting with Northwest Missouri(March 5, 2015) KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabod basketball men's season had its season come to an end with a 71-61 loss to Northwest Missouri in the MIAA Tournament quarterfinals in Municipal Auditorium. Washburn finishes the season 16-16.
Washburn fell behind early at 12-5 in the first six minutes of play, but would come back and take the lead at 15-14 using a 10-2 run over the next three minutes. However the Bearcats (23-5) used a 15-4 run of their own taking a 29-19 lead with 4:33 to go in the first half.
The Ichabods trimmed the lead back to four at 31-27 after a jumper by
Algie Key but the Bearcats hit one of their six first half 3-pointers taking a 34-27 lead into the break. Washburn was 8 of 27 from the field in the first half for a 30 percent average while the Bearcats were 13 of 24 overall and 6 of 10 from 3-point range.
Coming out of the locker room, Key's jumper cut the margin to five at 34-29 before Washburn missed its next 11 shots from the field as Northwest pushed its lead to as many as 17 with 14:13 to go. The Ichabods rallied again to cut the lead to eight points four times and to seven once with 49 seconds to play, but could not get any closer as the Bearcats went on for the 10 point win.
Key led the Ichabods with 16 points and
Christian Ulsaker scored 11 and
Kevin House scored 10 while recording four assists.
Alex North had a game-high seven rebounds and five points.
The Bearcats were led by MIAA Freshman of the Year Justin Pitts who had 25 points leading four Bearcats in double figures.
Washburn finished 21 of 60 overall from the field for a 35 percent average while the Bearcats finished 23 of 47 for a 49 percent average. Washburn was 6 of 21 from 3-point range and the Bearcats finished 9 of 19 from deep. Â Â
 Last time out for Northwest Missouri(Jan. 13, 2016) EMPORIA, Kan. -- The Northwest Missouri Bearcats fell 70-63 at Emporia State after being outscored 36 to 24 in the second half.
The Bearcats led by five at the half at 39-34 after shooting 55 percent from the field but were limited to 9 of 30 shooting including 0 of 7 from 3-point range in the loss.
All five starters played at least 31 minutes in the game as the Bearcat bench totaled 21 minutes in the game.
Justin Pitts led the Northwest with 36 points adding six assists. Zach Schneider scored nine points on three 3-pointers playing all 40 minutes.Â
