BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod men's and women's track and team had its throwers in four events on Friday night at the Southwest Baptist Bearcat Invitational opening the weekend with five personal bests, a school record and an individual champion. The Ichabods will continue action in Bolivar with day two of the event on Saturday.
On the women's side,
Shanice Hutson crushed her own school record in the shot put by two feet recording an NCAA provisional mark enroute to the individual title with a throw of 14.59m (47-10.50). Entering competition this weekend, the throw is the second best in the NCAA Division II ranks.
Paola Castaldi was second in the hammer throw with a mark of 50.25m (164-11.00) and
Adriel Holloway was fourth recording a personal best of 48.25m (158-04.00).
In the men's shot put,
Braden Rose placed seventh with a mark of 15.63m (51-03.50) while
Jaden Magana was 14
th recording a personal best throw of 14.68m (48-02.00). Rose also led the Ichabods in the hammer throw with a mark of 54.71m (179-06.00).
