TOPEKA, Kan. – The No. 22-ranked Washburn Ichabod women's track and field team turned in a record-setting performance, highlighted by a school-record mile, multiple NCAA provisional marks and a wave of personal best performances on the second day of the Washburn Open presented by Jason's Deli.
Lexie Fontaine delivered the headline performance for the Ichabods in the mile, shattering the school record with a 4:50.67 to finish fourth. The mark was a personal best, an NCAA provisional qualifier and ranks No. 11 in NCAA Division II this season.
Kyla Lochtefeld added a 12th-place finish in 5:00.78 while
Jordyn Cleary posted a personal best 5:01.78 to place 14th.
Kereser Augustin led the Ichabods in the 400 meters, placing third in 55.87 for an NCAA provisional time.
Isabella Kupka added an 11th-place finish in a personal best 57.04.
Kennedi Knowles (59.17),
Andria Williams (1:00.14) and
Natalie Hillebert (1:00.30) rounded out the event.
In the 60-meter semifinals,
McKenzie Hayse (7.68),
Ta'Mijha Nichols (7.71) and
Lyric Reid (7.72) finished 16th through 20th. Hayse also added an 11th-place finish in the long jump at 5.50 meters (18-00.50).
The 3,000 meters featured a string of personal records, led by
Grace Collins in 12th at 10:30.87.
Jolie Evans (13th, 10:31.33),
Ebba Wetterberg (16th, 10:36.12),
Riley Britton (25th, 10:43.07),
Riley Ammons (27th, 10:46.13) and
Kenzie Ross (31st, 10:51.57) all set personal bests, while
Rylee Ismert ran 10:56.43 and
Cheyenne Hittle finished in 11:48.36.
Grace Hovey recorded a personal best 2:21.20 in the 800 meters, placing 24th, with
Misti Schlabach finishing in 2:23.51.
In the hurdles,
Kynleigh Chard ran a personal best 9.28 in the 60-meter hurdle prelims, with
Addi Webster clocking 9.69.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Knowles, Cleary, Fontaine and
Ashley Heavner finished 14th in 4:01.23.
In the field events,
Reagan Housley cleared 3.72 meters (12-02.50) to place third in the pole vault and hit an NCAA provisional mark.
Jayden Herl added a personal best 3.42 meters (11-02.50).
Mellanie Neudinger took third in the long jump at 5.68 meters (18-07.75), while
Kaylee Hagerman recorded a personal best 5.29 meters (17-04.25).
Kyra Ray jumped 5.28 meters (17-04.00).
Alex Hart placed second in the high jump invitational, clearing 1.65 meters (5-05.00), with
Molly Worley finishing seventh at 1.60 meters (5-03.00). In the weight throw,
Adriel Holloway finished sixth at 16.05 meters (52-08.00) and
Jadyn Falley recorded a personal best 14.94 meters (49-00.25).
Washburn also excelled in the pentathlon as
Naiuri Krein placed second with 3,729 points, an NCAA provisional total.
Vera Gerasimova finished sixth with a personal best 3,406 points, also an NCAA provisional score. Krein's day included a second-place shot put (12.93 meters), a 5.52-meter long jump, a 2:26.66 800 meters and a 9.11 in the hurdles. Gerasimova added a 1.58-meter high jump, 5.46-meter long jump and a 2:34.12 800 meters as part of her all-around effort.
