Ichabods successful at three sites on Friday

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod track team was in action at three sites on Friday with two in California and the other at MIAA foe Central Missouri. The Ichabods will wrap up the trip to the west coast on Saturday in the second day of the Long Beach Invitational.
 
Azusa Pacific – Bryan Clay Invitational
Naiuri Krein placed seventh in group B of the heptathlon with a total of 4726 points. In the second day, she placed fourth in the javelin, sixth in the 800m and 10th in the long jump. Her point total was an NCAA provisional mark ranking 10th heading into this weekend.
 
Long Beach Invitational
At the Long Beach Invitational, the Ichabods had five throwers in action and recorded three NCAA provisional marks as Braden Rose was 26th in the hammer throw while Paola Castaldi (29th) and Adriel Holloway (31st) both brought back NCAA provisional marks.
 
UCM Mule Relays
In Warrensburg at the UCM Mule Relays, the Washburn men's squad were paced by Konner Verbeck who finished eighth in the 400m bringing back a school record with a time of 49.79 topping the previous record of 50.13 set in 2019.
 
Keetan Munsell won an individual title in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:28.96.

David Kibet and Gabriel Chinya went 1-2 in the 5000m run both recording personal bests with Kibet finishing in a time of 14:37.94 and Chinya coming in at 14:47.15.
 
The Ichabods had three top-10 finishers in the 1500m run with Gabriel Chinya placing fifth, Leo Cossham finishing sixth and Collen McLain taking ninth.
 
On the women's side, Lily Johnson recorded a personal best in the 1500m with a time of 4:37.03.
 
Eve Weber was third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of  11:30.03 recording a personal best.
