Harold E. Brown Jr. - Basketball (1970-74)
Harold Brown finished his career as Washburn’s all-time leading scorer after four years playing basketball for the Ichabods from 1970-74. He was inducted into the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 1985-86.

Brown finished his four years with 1,651 points to set a school record that stood for 10 years. His freshman year he led the team with 167 rebounds as a forward and then the following three years he switched to guard. He finished his career with 550 rebounds, also a school record when he left.

Brown’s efforts earned him all-Great Plains Athletic Conference first team honors and all-district first team honors his senior year and NAIA All-America honorable mention honors his final two years.

Brown averaged 16.2 points a game during his career and set a career high with 40 against Nebraska-Omaha in 1973. That total was a school single-game record until 1984.

WU Hall of Fame coach Glen Cafer said “Harold is a tremendous athlete. He has great jumping ability and tremendous speed and quickness. He should be one of the best performers in the conference this year and next.”

Brown graduated in 1975 with an accounting degree.
