Janet Nuzman - Coach
Janet Nuzman, a Topeka High graduate, was a physical education professor at Washburn from 1962 to 1995. She kick-started the women’s athletic program in the late 1960’s and was the school’s first coach in several women’s sports, including field hockey (1968-70), basketball (1969-70), softball (1970-71) and volleyball (1969-81). Nuzman was inducted into the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 1988. She earned her physical education degree at Kansas State and received her master’s degree from Kansas. Before arriving at Washburn, she was also a physical education teacher at Highland Park and then Seaman.
