John Waltz - Men's Tennis (1970-74), Men's Basketball (1970-71) and Football (1973)
John Waltz played four seasons of tennis, one season of basketball starting as a true freshman during the 1970-71 season and one season of football during the 1973 season becoming the last person in Ichabod history to start in three different sports at Washburn. As a senior on the football team, he played in nine games recording 16 receptions for 193 yards and one touchdown and returning kickoffs and punts having never played football in high school. During his one season of basketball he appeared in 21 games scoring 83 points with a 4.0 ppg average to go with 1.5 rpg.

It was in tennis where John made his mark where he was the league champion in singles and doubles and helped Washburn to two league team titles. He earned all-American status in 1972 teaming with doubles partner Mark Nordstrom at the NAIA tournament in Kansas City. He was the NAIA District 10 singles and doubles champion.

He graduated from Washburn in 1974 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. John is married to Marlene and has two children, Blair and Bret.
